Fontemorsi, winery at Montescudaio

A LONG CULTIVATED DESIRE

The Fontemorsi company was launched in 2003 as the realisation of a long held desire to develop wines and oils in an area of Tuscany that, from ancient times, stands out for the richness of its soil and quality of its products.

Fontemorsi is where the professional and private ideals of its directors combined in the regeneration of an area with a strong wine-growing tradition, and with the aim of developing a small production of high quality products.

It is also where the splendour of the landscape, depth of its history, and uniqueness of its agriculture make for a special and worthwhile vacation, especially in Fontemorsi’s guest house which stands at the heart of the winery in dominant position overlooking the Cecina River Valley.

The Fontemorsi estate covers twenty-two hectares of vineyards and olive groves. Wine production is mainly based to the traditional Sangiovese grape and to a lesser extent, two international grape varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for our red wines. Chardonnay and Viognier for our white wines.

The olive grove has around 1,200 trees of the typical local varieties (Frantoio, Maurino, Leccino and Pendolino), planted back in the 1970s.

The company’s wine cellars are fully equipped with modern technology. And apart from our guest house, Fontemorsi maintains its tasting and sales outlet in the historic centre of Montescudaio.
